Whenever we go to Terrigal for a paddle on the surf ski or paddle board, TomO manages to make his way over to “The Skillion” with skateboard in hand, well, a Penny that is, best I get it right…
I’m not sure where he gets it from, but you sure wouldn’t catch me careering down that slope on four small wheels with a small platform…
Nah, I’ll stick to the surf ski, ocean and the waves, you’d be nuts to do what he’s doing.

gee, i wonder where he gets it! i’m just glad he stopped before the street. i was getting anxiety over here with my feet up.

Yes…
And yes, there is a small fence before the street. And don’t worry, Flat Stanley will love the ride down the hill 😉

Right on. We have a grassy bowl near home that all the kids (and grown ups who like to act like kids) use for cardboard sledding. A piece of linoleum works well too. Haven’t seen anyone on a skateboard though now I’m certain someone must have tried. Roll on TomO!

Geez, it feels like only yesterday that my sisters and I would roll down the Skillion with a belly full of potato scallops and see who could keep them down. It surprised me when I visited recently and realised just how many random rocks there are in the middle of that thing! Crazy days of summer.

Love the video of TomO! Those Penny boards have gotten really popular in the States. I want to get one when I get back to San Diego…or maybe I should just stick to my beach cruiser bike :).

Excellent and impressive that Tom O has the courage to stay on the board all the way down the hill.
There is an old landfill a mile away from my house that is now a preserve. Today, due to the snow, the forest preserve rangers have it open for snow tubing, a real blast. Tom O’s adventure reminds me quite a bit of that landfill hill. During the summer months, my son and I ride our mountain bikes up the side and our effort is rewarded first by a spectacular view that includes the Sears Tower in far off Chicago (20 miles away) and then a bomb down the hill on our bikes.

He’d be into that as well – for sure!

Get him to Chicagoland! We’ll do that as well as a lot of very fun, a little scary, mountain bike rides.
