Wow – That is a humdinger of a termite mound, Baz. Looks like the nose cone of a rocket! What does that particular species of termite eat? Doesn’t seem like there would that much wood out there to sustain them.
I travelled the Plenty, from the Stuart to the Sandover Highways many, many times throughout the 1990s, going between the Alice & Ampilatwatja. Lovely country. Great photo.
