After a reasonably steep multi-pitch climb I crossed this snow covered Arête on the way to the summit of Auroa Peak in New Zealand’s Southern Alps.

What a great playground, hey?

      One of my favourites…it was a great day out there, albeit very cold as we came up the western face early in the morning!

    Pal thats one of many things I miss about climbing, there is no better view anywhere. The closer to the edge the more you see. It’s worth a bit of risk

      My climbing partner and guide, Steve Moffatt. Steve is a legendary New Zealand climber, who himself has stood on top of Mt Everest, and has been a great teacher and inspiration to myself!

      Strewth, come to think of it what was he doing taking a picture, wasn’t he supposed to be “belaying” me across! 😉

      The climb is not necessarily a difficult one, but it is quite a long way down – you don’t want to fall, rope or no rope!
