Pelicans (In the Outback)

Pelicans (In the Outback)

Pelicans, you’ve got to love this majestic bird!

There are many inland waterholes and billabongs that abound with them in the Australian Outback. I photographed this pelican on the Cooper Creek at Innamincka…

Baz … This expression, “have a yarn with me here” … Translate it for me, a Colorado-boy lost in the Rockies …. As for the Pelicans, I “escaped” Louisiana and headed for the hills … But Louisiana’s state bird is the Pelican. The only “outback” in Louisiana is when one redneck tells another redneck “Hey, Bo’ … Let’s go outback and settle this!” This is a great shot. T Fortunately, you guys don’t have any rednecks in Australia.

      G’day!

So let’s work through this together, have a yarn, you know, a chat, speak to me…or if you prefer, have a chin wag!

Pelican’s well one of my favourite birds and plenty of them in the outback. Yes, outback, some things never change no matter where you come from, that would be the same here as well, let’s go out back and settle this!

Mind you, most wouldn’t even go two rounds with a revolving door…

And strewth, no rednecks here? Don’t worry, we’ve some spare if you need any more.

Trust all is well for you in Louisiana and thanks for dropping by, my blog has gotta be better than a slap in the face with a wet fish…

      Cheers, Baz

I have lots of pelicans down here by the sea, too – didn’t realise they frequent the desert! That would be a gorgeous backdrop against which to see them glide…

I’ve always associated them with coastal areas, but we have seagulls that come pretty far inland here, so why not pelicans? Nice photo and beautiful bird!

Lovely, aren’t they. If I’m on the lake kayaking I stop and watch them land, amazing!

Well, that goes to show how much I don’t know…I thought pelicans were only found by the ocean!
