Shelter from the storm (Almer Hut - New Zealand)

Almer Hut is situated high on top of the Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand’s Southern Alps.

The red building has been a welcome sight to many who have traversed this fantastic country.

At the time I passed through it was sitting just below the snow line and the area offered great views to the mountains and the Tasman Sea.

New Zealand, you’ve got to love it, an adventurer’s playground…

My mom just got back from a month in New Zealand, and though she wasn’t hiking in the mountains, she absolutely loved the country (and getting to see her favourite rugby team, the Canterbury Crusaders, play!)

It is a beautiful place…! Pity about that (good) Rugby team that keep on beating us Aussies!

How long does it take you to get from where you live to New Zealand? Plane or boat trip? Just curious.

Hi Steph… about 2 1/2 hours Sydney to Queenstown in New Zealand by plane… Quicker then going to our own snowy mountains

It’s just a bees whisker away from being as good as Australia! 😉

There isn’t much not to love about New Zealand…! We love it over there…
